Gefran Supplier Day 2025 and sustainable supply chain: ESG projects by suppliers grow by +77%
The fifth edition of the Supplier Day, titled ‘Active Ecosystem’, brought together Gefran's main suppliers to share results, new tools and common perspectives in the evolution of the Group's sustainability path.

2025 edition
Gefran, a company specialising in the design and manufacture of sensors, systems and components for industrial automation and process control, organised the fifth edition of Gefran’s Supplier Day, the annual event dedicated to spreading the culture of sustainability throughout the supply chain. The 2025 edition, titled ‘Active Ecosystem’, brought together local suppliers for a discussion on the guidelines of the Strategic Sustainability Plan.
The meeting represented an important opportunity for dialogue with the main players in the supply chain, who are called upon to actively contribute to the implementation of the Plan. To date, over 80% of relevant suppliers have signed the Sustainability Pact, confirming their concrete commitment to a common path.
Life Cycle Assessment
In this context, the Supplier Day has established itself as a key event for companies in Gefran’s value chain: an opportunity to present new ESG initiatives, promote collaboration between companies and share successful experiences.
During the day, the results of the Life Cycle Assessment pilot project were presented. This project was launched on an initial range of products to assess their environmental impact throughout their entire life cycle, from production to disposal. The carbon footprint calculation, which had already been developed previously and used as a methodological reference, provided the starting point on which the new LCA study on the product was built. The topic was also explored in depth by Right Hub, a company specialising in sustainable procurement, which highlighted how the quality of the data provided by partners is crucial in assessing environmental impacts.
New projects and ideas
During the event, the new digital platform was also presented, which, starting next year, will support Gefran in measuring the ESG maturity level of the supply chain. The system, based on document analysis and structured indicators, will allow suppliers to obtain a detailed ESG score, promoting a path of continuous and measurable improvement.
Another key theme of the 2025 edition was the evolution of the Supplier Day format, which has been enhanced by the development of the Box of Ideas, a digital space launched in 2022 to collect decarbonisation proposals and projects. Over the last twelve months, the number of initiatives presented has increased by 77%. This wealth of experience will be the starting point for the new programme of meetings that Gefran will launch in 2026: four annual events dedicated to both cross-cutting issues and specific topics for energy-intensive companies and distribution services. The meetings will fuel working groups focused on concrete actions to reduce emissions and improve environmental performance, with the aim of strengthening dialogue, promoting the exchange of expertise and building an increasingly cohesive and results-oriented network.
Sustainability as a strategic lever
“Sustainability is a strategic lever for Gefran’s development and guides our industrial choices in a concrete way,” said Giovanna Franceschetti, Gefran’s Vice President with responsibility for sustainability. ‘The growing contribution of suppliers, confirmed by the significant increase in projects submitted this year, demonstrates the maturity of the ecosystem we are building. Working together allows us to improve data quality, strengthen our actions and generate shared value for the company, the supply chain and the local area.’
“The supply chain plays an essential role in the Gefran Group’s decarbonisation process. The significant growth in ESG projects developed by our suppliers over the last year is a strong sign of commitment and alignment with our objectives,‘ said Stefano Mazzola, Chief Procurement Officer at Gefran. ’The Supplier Day allows us to promote these initiatives and consolidate a dialogue that, thanks to tools such as Life Cycle Assessment and ESG scoring, will become increasingly structured and effective.”
The 2025 edition has thus confirmed itself not only as a time to take stock, but also as an active laboratory of collaboration, in which Gefran and its partners are building, step by step, an increasingly sustainable, participatory and measurable growth model.
